WASHINGTON__A consortium of nearly 40 county officials from across the nation, including Arapahoe County Commissioner John Brackney, meeting here Friday compared notes on emergency response preparedness and methods of security.
The National Association of Counties Homeland Security Taskforce, gathering in the Ronald Reagan Building on Pennsylvania Ave., also asked Director of White House Office of Homeland Security Tom Ridge for $3.8 billion in additional funding for emergency services.
The discussions and the funding request, amid presentations from, among others, Secretary of Transportation Norman Mineta, revolved around local readiness for terrorist attacks.
