On the Internet, sales pitches for Cipro are "virtually" everywhere.
“Anthrax protection” with the antibiotic is only $385 away, according to one site. Elsewhere, “bioterrorist protection” includes a $49.95 “physician consultation fee.” And on another site, drug-seeking customers can “reign in on terrorism at home” with a seven-day, $84 supply of Cipro.
As concerns about anthrax exposure have spread nationwide, scores of Internet drug sites have sprung up to hawk prescription packages of Cipro, technically known as ciprofloxacin. In addition, many already-established sites that typically sell products such as Viagra, hair loss remedies and allergy medications have scrambled to add the anthrax-fighting antibiotic.
