I didn't speak English and often found myself quiet as my classmates interacted. It was these times that made me eager to communicate with others. It was these experiences that made me want to work in journalism. The ability to write in newspapers and other forms of media has made up for the times I'd sit in class wondering what others were saying.

I'm a student at Auburn University, finishing a degree in journalism. I've worked at the Auburn Plainsman and the Associated Press as a sports writer. I've done play-by-play for the Auburn women's soccer team and some online reporting, but this is my first job in Washington. Although I've worked mostly with sports, I plan to cover as many parts of journalism as possible to find my niche. I just hope I love my new experiences as much as I loved the ones I've had the last few years.
