Nikki RobertiMy love for journalism began in the early 1990s when I watched the television series "Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman" and immediately fell in love with my hero, Lois Lane.
At age 13, I was the youngest journalist to write for the mother newspaper of USA Today, Florida Today's Verge section in my hometown, Melbourne Fla., where I contributed for five years.
I was named a 2006 Newspaper Association of America Teen Fellow and the female Florida recipient of the 2007 Al Neuharth Free Spirit Scholarship for journalism.
Studying journalism with a minor in media studies at Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C., I wrote for the campus newspaper, The Appalachian, as a lifestyles reporter and religion columnist, a copy editor and the assistant online editor.
My most recent project is the launching of REALITY Check Girl Magazine online in September 2009. As founder, editor-in-chief and webmaster, I self publish the monthly magazine with the help of my 60-plus staff worldwide.
Though a journalist through and through, I do surprisingly have a life and enjoy cooking anything and everything, especially cheesecake and Italian food. I am also a seven-time award-winning playwright with 25 performances of my work at the Kennedy Center in D.C. and in Florida, Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia, California and New York.
