Shiraz Mukarram - spring 2010

Shiraz MukarramShiraz MukarramIt is just the amalgamation of these three expressions - "Write, Click and Change" - that I sturdily believe in and associate myself with. Every day is just another attempt to  make a difference in a society where ignorance prevails. I belong to Pakistan.

I have always wanted to bring about change through the mediums (visual and print media) that I am interested in, which is part of the reason I am immersed in journalism. I happen to believe that confrontation of "any sort" actually takes you nowhere, so the best option is to change mindsets. I have traveled expansively, and assimilating it with my work experience has let me focus on grave issues related to my city, needing immediate attention.

I have worked as a sub-editor and photojournalist for The Daily Times and will return to my job at The News International, a leading newspaper in Karachi.

In addition to writing and photography, I am interested in filmmaking, drawing and carving sculptures.
