Nellann Young - Spring 1999
Nellann Young is a junior at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, pursuing a bachelor of science degree in news-editorial journalism. She has served as student life editor, managing editor and editor-in-chief of the Daily Beacon, UT's daily student newspaper, and plans to pursue a reporting career in daily newspapers following graduation. She completed two internships with the Farragut Press Enterprise in Farragut, Tenn., and the Daily Post-Athenian in Athens, Tenn., covering local news and developing feature pieces. (during this holiday break, she took over the beat of a reporter who was killed in an auto accident) She also serves on the Dean's Advisory Council for the College of Communications, and was peer mentor to freshman students. She is also involved with the campus chapter of Campus Crusade for Christ. She is a native of Athens, Tenn., and her interests include reading long novels on rainy days, exhibiting her father's Holstein dairy cattle at livestock shows, running and watching Volunteer football.
